The Green Construction research team, led by Dr. Larry Xiancun Hu from the School of Design and the Built Environment, Faculty of Arts & Design, University of Canberra, is proud to recognise HOMZ Transformation for their outstanding achievements in environmental sustainability through their recently completed Griffith project.
As part of the Environmental Sustainability Education Program for the NSW Construction Industry, HOMZ Transformation was officially awarded for implementing exemplary green building practices that deliver measurable environmental benefits.
Key highlights of the project include:
- Achieving a 6.25 Energy Rating, reflecting their commitment to delivering high-performance, energy-efficient homes.
- Recycling old bricks from the site to create beautiful and sustainable paving, turning potential waste into meaningful landscape features.
- Upgrading all old hydraulic, electrical, and air conditioning systems to modern, high-efficiency alternatives—significantly improving the building’s overall energy performance and long-term sustainability.
These initiatives showcase HOMZ Transformation’s integrated approach to sustainable design and construction—reducing waste, lowering operational energy use, and prioritising smart resource management.
On 16 July 2025, Dr. Larry Hu visited the Griffith site to present the official Certificate of Recognition to the team. He also awarded Project Manager Neil Hughes with a Certificate of Outstanding Contribution for his leadership and dedication to embedding sustainable practices throughout the project’s delivery.

This recognition is part of a broader initiative supported by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust, aiming to empower the construction industry with real-world examples of environmentally responsible building.
The Green Construction research team congratulates HOMZ Transformation for their efforts and looks forward to continued collaboration to shape a greener future for the Australian built environment.
